• We are seeking a Laboratory Support Technologist to support research and development efforts related to Materials Reliability. The MR analytical laboratories employ a suite of gas, liquid, and solid materials characterization tools (ICP/MS, ICP/OES, LECO, GC, GC/MS, LC/PDA, UPLC/MS, IC, GPC, LIBS) for solving problems and building fundamental understanding of materials interactions and effects. This role offers a rare opportunity to address a large variety of problems faced by the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) complex and to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment and to plan and execute critical analyses to solve materials forensics challenges and identify future research opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with customers, determining their analytical measurement needs, crafting protocols, collecting data, and reporting to customers
• Learn about customer processes and products to select appropriate analytical tools or direct them to other resources
• Prepare samples for analysis
• Operate and calibrate various instrumentation to include QA/QC activities
• Build methodologies or tools for measuring gas, liquid, or solid compositions and their impurities
• Further the knowledge of materials aging, decomposition, or interaction with other materials
• Maintain detailed records
• Record, manipulate and interpret data
• Perform all duties in compliance with operational safety, security and quality guidelines
